The vatican had an impressive collection of Classical statuary. This is perhaps the most famous, depicting Lacoan and his sons being crushed by a snake. Michaelangelo was supposed to have been strongly influenced by his study of this work. We were impressed by the near-perfect anatomy, down to the veins in Lacoan's legs, and the depth of emotion.
